by Andreas Metzger last modified Nov 19, 2009 15:36

August 2009: THE European Research Institute in Service Science (ERISS, Tilburg University), University of Crete and University of Stuttgart are pleased to announce the success of their proposal for an Erasmus Mundus International Masters in Service Engineering (IMSE). IMSE will start in August 2010 and is a two-year education programme designed to prepare post-graduate students with either a business or Information Technology background to become the next generation of service scientists and engineers.

Aimed at the interface of software service systems and business processes, IMSE is the first international course in Europe in the field of services science – a growing discipline that aims to study and understand the growth in the service economy and its implications and to perform research and innovation in all areas of service design, implementation and provision. IMSE will be delivered at each of the three institutions and students will rotate around these sites, ensuring a unique multi-institutional and multi-cultural experience for each cohort.

Teaching will be performed in collaboration with several outstanding international institutions, including University of California at Berkeley, University of New South Wales and Tsinghua University, China, and international companies like ForthNet, Software AG, Accenture and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Guest lecturers from these affiliated partners will ensure students build on their core knowledge with first-hand experience of cutting-edge research topics in service science and their practical application.

IMSE is funded by the European Commission’s prestigious Erasmus Mundus programme, which provides financial support for institutions and makes available scholarships and travel funds for highly motivated students. For Academic Year 2010-2011, it is anticipated there will be approximately 17 IMSE scholarships available with around 8 for European candidates and 9 for non-European candidates. IMSE will soon be launching its own portal, linked to S-Cube's Virtual Campus, containing more infmormation.
