In personalization the user is seen as being passive, or at least somewhat less in control. It is the website that monitors, analyses and reacts to behavior, for example, content offered can be based on tracking surfing decisions.[Bonnet, 2001]

Personalization involves a process of gathering user information during interaction between a system and a user in order to dynamically deliver appropriate, tailored content and services to the user. [Bonnet, 2001]

Personalization involves using technology to accommodate the differences between individuals. Once confined mainly to theWeb, it is increasingly becoming a factor in  education health care (i.e.  personalized medicine),  television, and in both "business to business" and "business to consumer" settings.
