Monitoring mechanisms correspond to the approaches and techniques utilized to actually perform the monitoring job, such that monitoring is a process within a business process for collecting and storing state data to ensure that the process is actually running in accordance to the planned objectives and complying with relevant laws and regulations, e.g. internal polices,  Service Level Agreements (SLA).
