A Process is an ordering of activities with a beginning and an end; it has inputs (in terms of resources, materials and information) and a specified output (the results it produces) [Papazoglou & Ribbers, 2006]. Thus a process is any ordered set of steps that is initiated by an event, transforms information, materials, or commitments, and produces some output [Davenport, 2004]. The set of activities constituting a process are often repeated following a common pattern, the Process Model. {SPC: process model, process instance} | |||

In science, a process is every sequence of changes of a real object/body which is observable using the scientific method. Therefore, all sciences analyze and model processes [Wikipedia]. |
