Web mashups are web applications that are developed by
integrating data, application logic, and/or pieces of user interfaces
(UIs) sourced from the Web. [OMELETTE, D2.1]_ALT_ A graphical lightweight process (composite service) description, described as an aggregation of individual graphical services (both WSDL and RESTful ones) connected through a simple data flow (which implicitly offers a basic workflow as well). [SOA4ALL]_ALT_ Mashup is a web application that combines data from more than one source into a single integrated tool; an example is the use of cartographic data from “Google Maps” to add location information to real-estate data from “Craiglist”, thereby creating a new and distinct web service that was not originally provided by either source. |
Small to mid scale web application combining several
technical functionalities or sources of information (e.g., web services
of different providers). In comparison to big applications using big
application frameworks, Mashups can be developed more easily and
rapidly, usually incorporating a scripting language or a modelling
language. Mashups do not necessarily require a Mashup Tool to build
them. [VSR-Wiki]{SPC: mashup tool, MDL, MDP, streaming mashup, real-time mashup,
