Adaptation makes previously installed and configured software components fit to the current needs of the target system. Is crucial for self-* infrastructure since the adaptation step can be repeated several times to make sure the currently deployed service fits the requirements of the SBA. [CD-JRA-2.3.1]

Adaptation is a process of modifying Service-Based Aplications in order to satisfy new requirements and to fit new situations dictated by the environment on the basis of Adaptation Strategies designed by the system integrator [PO-JRA-1.2.1].{SPC: Proactive Adaptation, Reactive Adaptation, Post-Mortem Adaptation}

Service adaptation can be seen as dynamic maintenance of a SBA.[PO-JRA-1.1.4]

The term adaptation in computer science refers to a process, in which an interactive system (adaptive system) adapts its behaviour to individual users based on information acquired about its user(s) and its environment. [Wiki]
