Business Process Management
(KM-BPM)

Abstract Transaction Template (ATT) denotes a special type of  transaction template that exhibits conventional and application-level atomicity. In particular, abstract transaction templates render common business processes that are generic, industry neutral and re-usable and can be used to develop business transactions in a multiplicity of end-to-end processes.

Abstract transaction template is a means to removes excess complexity from the business transaction, allowing common business processes such as ordering, distribution and payment to be expressed in a form analogous to abstract data types and rationalizing them across an end-to-end process.

The basic structure of these transactional  templates (which could be also appropriately extended and customized) provides a standard definition for building business solutions. ATTs not only help to streamline and rationalize common business practices across an end-to-end process, they also help to enforce participant commitments.[CD-JRA-2.1.3]
